To understand the ‘soul’ as a mere metaphysical entity is a fatal error. To be concerned with the immortality of the ego is to erroneously ascribe temporal quantity to the soul. One mistakenly transposes the bodily concern of biological survival to the soul, in which the proper concern is integrity, power, strength, virtus—not temporal duration.
